MONDAY NIGHT HIGH SCHOOL SPRING SPORTS - 17-0! White Knoll finishes undefeated regular season

Another Chronicle Country school completes an undefeated regular season for the 1st time.

White Knoll defeated Fort Mill 8-2 to finish with a 17-0 overall record, 8-0 in Region 5-5A. It was also the defending Class 5A champions’ 22nd consecutive overall win and they will open the playoffs at home Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  against Carolina Forest.

Andrea Lyon struck out 10 batters and she, Shelby Davies and Hannah Goodwin all belted 2-run home runs for the Lady Timberwolves. Goodwin also broke the school record for career runs scored with 173.

Lexi Winters also had 2 hits in the win.

Lexington 11, Airport 1

Jaci Fleming had 3 hits and Sarah Gordon and Allie Light each drove in 2 runs for the Lady Wildcats on “Senior Night” Monday.

Caleigh Corbitt had a solo home run for the Lady Eagles’ lone score.

Both teams will open the playoffs at home. Lexington (16-3, 6-2) will face St. James at 6 p.m. Wednesday, while Airport will face the 4th place team out of Region 6-4A.

Dutch Fork 10, Irmo 0

Carolyn Lusk and Morgan Scott combined to strike out 9 and allow no hits and drive in 5 runs to lead the Lady Silver Foxes.

Scott went 3-3 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored and Lusk had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Dutch Fork travels to West Florence to open the Class 5A playoffs.

BASEBALL

Airport 14, Northside Christian Academy 1

Colby Key went 2-3 with 4 RBI and Zach Roberts and Cam Beckham had 2 RBI each as the Eagles closed out the regular season with a win.

Airport will play host to Darlington Tuesday in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.

GIRLS SOCCER

Pelion 7, Edisto 0

Reese Goodwin and Hannah Owens each had 2 goals and Savannah Pennington and Olivia Lang added a goal in the Region 5-3A win for the Lady Panthers (6-12-1, 4-4).

They close out the regular season Wednesday at Batesburg-Leesville.

South Aiken 5, Dutch Fork 1

Lainey Coleman had the lone goal for the Lady Silver Foxes (4-12, 1-6), who close out the season Wednesday at home against White Knoll.

Swansea 5, Indian Land 0

BOYS TENNIS

Lexington 6, Irmo 0

The Region 5-5A champion Wildcats will open the Class 5A playoffs at home Thursday.


Batesburg-Leesville 4, Barnwell 2
Darius Dennis,  Jaewan Williams and Wayman Gilliam won their singles matches and Lane Janney and Walt Bryant claimed a doubles' match for the Panthers. 

River Bluff 6, White Knoll 0

The Gators (8-6) will close out the regular season at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home.
