Dutch Fork falls to defending Class 5A champions

Rainfall and fog caused a partial suspension of Day 1 of the 4th annual Naturchem Invitational on Thursday.
The nightcaps at both Lexington and River Bluff high schools were halted between the 2nd and 3rd innings. Each will be resumed at 8:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the final bracket games. 
Lexington held a 5-0 lead over Belton-Honea Path in the bottom of second at the time of stoppage. The Wildcats scored of their runs after loading the bases in the Bottom 1st. David Cromer scored on a fielding error, Ryan Toll had an RBI walk, Brian Knight added a sacrifice fly and Chase LeMacks and Toll each scored on passed balls.
Over in "The Swamp", defending tournament champion Airport and Lugoff-Elgin were tied at 1-1 entering the Top 3rd. Colby Key hit into an RBI fielder's choice in the Bottom 1st and the Demons scored off a fielding error in leftfield.


NATURCHEM INVITATIONAL DAY 1 RESULTS

Dorman 6, Dutch Fork 3
The defending Class 5A champions scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th to defeat the Silver Foxes Thursday at Lexington High School.
A 2-run double by Bryan Helms put Dutch Fork ahead 2-0 in the Bottom 1st. Dorman capitalized off an error to make it 2-1, then Clemson University commitment pitcher Ty Olenchuk answered with a solo home run in the Bottom 3rd.
The Cavaliers proceeded to score 5 unanswered runs, starting with a RBI sacrifice fly by Matthew Powell to cut Dutch Fork’s lead to 3-2 in the Top 6th. 
]After Andrew Fulmer relieved Olenchuk, Dorman proceeded to tie the game in the 7th on an error at 3rd base. After loading the bases with 2 outs, T.J. White hit a 2-run single to put the Cavaliers on top. 
Dorman added a 4th run on another error at 3rd base and Dylan Rogers retired 3 straight Silver Foxes after issuing a walk to end the game.
