The last time the Chanticleers swept the conference regular season and tournament titles, they won the 2016 Division I College World Series.

After winning both the Sun Belt regular-season and tournament championships, the Coastal Carolina baseball program will play host the 2018 NCAA Conway Regional on campus at Springs Brooks Stadium.

The Chanticleers (42-17) will be a national seed and open play against 4th ranked Long Island-Brooklyn at 6 p.m. At noon, second-seed Connecticut will face Washington.

This will be the fourth time the Chanticleers has played host to a regional and the second time on campus. Overall, Coastal Carolina will be playing in its 16th NCAA Regional.

Coastal Carolina has been a number-one seed on four previous occasions.

CLEMSON

The Tigers (45-14) were one of 16 programs selected to host an NCAA regional for the 72nd-annual Division I Baseball Championship, announced Sunday night by the NCAA.

The regional begins Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium with 2nd seed Vanderbilt facing third-seed St. John’s at noon. Clemson will then play 4th seed Morehead State at 6 p.m.

Clemson was one of four ACC schools chosen to host a regional, joining Florida State, North Carolina and NC State. Other host schools are Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oregon State, Stanford, Stetson, Texas and Texas Tech.

It is the 16th time since 1980 that Clemson hosts a regional and third year in a row. The Tigers will make their 10th NCAA Tournament appearance in a row, 31st in the last 32 years and 43rd overall.

SOUTH CAROLINA

After a one-year absence, the Gamecocks are back in the NCAA College World Series tournament.

They will open play in the Greenville (N.C.) Regional as a second-seed against Ohio State at 2 p.m.

East Carolina is the top seed and will face North Carolina-Wilmington at 7 p.m.

South Carolina enters the regional with a 33-24 mark. It went 1-2 in the SEC Tournament, defeating Missouri (4-2) before losing to Arkansas (13-8) and LSU (6-4) in 12 innings.

The Gamecocks are one of 10 SEC schools to make the 64-team field.
