Pancakes fall to Bananas 6-2

Savannah improved to 5-0 this season at the "Fish Tank"

Costumed comic book figures like Batman were out in force Friday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium as part of Super Heroes' Night.

The Lexington County Pancakes could have used the power of Superman and Thor against a Savannah Bananas' team which has dominated it at the "Fish Tank" this season. The South Division leaders extended their hold on first place with a 6-2 win.

Not only did Savannah improve to 5-0 this season in Lexington, but it has outscored the Pancakes 51-14 in those games.

The Bananas outhit Lexington County 14-6 and closed the game by striking out seven of the last eight Pancake batters.

Savannah took control of the game in the third inning. Capitalizing off two of three Lexington County errors, the Bananas took a 1-0 lead.

Clay Dungan followed with a 2-run triple off Jordan Beatson and Cade Marlowe added a sacrifice fly.

An error on a dropped flyball in centerfield enabled Josh Taylor to score the Pancakes'  lone run.

A misplayed flyball in the outfield by Chris Clary to open the seventh followed by a Dungan hit set up a run-scoring opportunity for Marlowe. He cleared the bases with a single off reliever Colton Rendon to provide insurance for the Bananas.

"Mr. Blowfish" Jared Williams of Gilbert had an RBI bunt single in the bottom 7th. He sent the ball past the pitcher and eluded the tag of the first baseman, allowing a Pancake run to score.

The two teams meet again Saturday at Grayson Stadium in Savannah.
