The 2019 regular season will end this Saturday for the Lexington County Blowfish.
Monday’s 12-2 loss to the Fayetteville Swampdogs eliminated the Blowfish from playoff contention in the 2nd half of the Coastal Plain League season.
In avenging a 9-0 loss to Lexington County on July 24, Fayetteville limited the Blowfish to 6 hits and 3 pitchers combined to strike out 14 batters. Offensively, the Swampdogs pounded out 13 hits and got 3 RBI each from Konner Piotto and Alex Kachler.
Ian Jenkins played a role in both Blowfish runs. He scored on a wild pitch in the top 2nd and drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 7th.
Lexington County (15-31, 8-13) will play 3 of its final 4 games at home. The Blowfish play host to Gastonia at 7:05 pm Tuesday for the final Dog Day Tuesday as all canines will receive free admission with a paid owner.
