The South Carolina American Legion playoffs ended in crushing fashion Friday night for Lexington Post 7.

Host team Camden Post 17 jumped on the Legion Field visitors early and pulled away for a 10-0 victory in five innings of the decisive Game 5 of the series.

Post 17 took a 5-0 lead in the first and starting pitcher Bradwin Salmond allowed just four hits in five innings. In addition to allowing 13 hits, Post 7 committed three errors.

Five Camden players had five hits, led by Jake Laffin who drove in three runs. Post 17 now travels to Sumter Post 15 for a second-round matchup to determine the Midlands Region representative at the state tournament taking place July 25-27 at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia.

Lexington finished the season with a 16-9 mark.

In other second-round action, Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 will open a Best-of-Five series for the Upstate Region title against Greenwood Post 20 starting Monday at Smith Road Complex on the campus of Newberry College.
