PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Japonica Wilson (River Bluff)
The Region 5-5A Player of the Year was instrumental in the dramatic turnaround of the Lady Gators. A year after going winless, she helped snap a 32-game overall and 45-game region losing streak as River Bluff set a school record with 17 victories. The Lady Gators also won their 1st ever playoff game and advanced to the 3rd round of the Class 5A playoffs. Wilson averaged 16.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 1.8 assists per game as a senior.
COACH OF THE YEAR - Monica Williams (Irmo)
The former University of South Carolina standout led the Lady Yellow Jackets to a 24-4 record and a Class 5A Upper State final appearance. She also posted her 400th career victory this past season and was scheduled to coach at the Carolinas All-Star Classic.
