Defending Class 2A boys’ basketball champion Gray Collegiate Academy saw 2 winning streaks come to an end at the Bojangles’ Bash.
Friday’s loss to Aspire Academy snapped its 17-game winning streak dating back to last season. On Saturday, the War Eagles fell 77-65 to SCISA school Cardinal Newman to end their 20-game winning streak against Palmetto State teams.
Gray Collegiate (1-2) led 30-26 at halftime, only to get outscored 51-35 in the second half.
Chico Carter led the Cardinals with 39 points and Josh Beadle added 14 in the win.
Gray Collegiate had 4 players in double figuresw. Jalil Robinson scored 16 points, followed by Jalen DeLoach with 14, Tommy Bruner with 12 and Khalil Robinson with 11.
Gray Collegiate faces sister school Oceanside Collegiate Tuesday in Mount Pleasant.

Niko Austin scored 19 points, Malcolm Davis had 12 and Dylan Williamson added 11 as the Panthers rallied from a 9-point deficit to defeat the Eagles.
Pelion (4-1) will play host to the Holiday Classic starting Dec. 20 and open against Wagener-Salley.
