A 6-run rally in the bottom 6th helped West Columbia secure a 10-8 win over Sumter in Monday's S.C. American Baseball Summer League opener.
The game was moved to Midlands Baseball Complex in West Columbia after being originally scheduled for Brookland-Cayce High School.
Sumter trailed 4-3 when Josh Burns' 3-run triple gave it a 6-4 lead in the top 5th. A wild pitch added to its lead in the inning and a sole home run by Jacob Holladay in the top 6th made it 8-4.
University of South Carolina signee Kameron Dunlap of White Knoll ignited the comeback with a leadoff hit in the 6th inning. He finished the game 3-4 at the plate and scored on Dylan Williamson of Pelion's RBI to cut the deficit to 8-5.
An RBI double by Reign LyBrand of White Knoll scored Williamson to make it 8-6. He had 3 RBI in the game. Airport's Sam LaFrage hit an RBI fielder's choice to bring West Columbia to within 8-7 and Blake Palyok tied the game with an RBI double.
A bunt single put West Columbia on top 9-8 and an RBI single added an insurance run. Winthrop signee Parker Whittle retired Sumter Post 15 in order to end the game.
Sumter plays host to Lexington at 7:30 pm Wednesday at Riley Park. West Columbia returns to action at Midlands Baseball Complex at 7 pm Wednesday against Camden.
