A trio of Chronicle Country baseball teams lived to fight another day.
Dutch Fork, Airport and Gilbert were all victorious in loser's bracket games Saturday and will remain on the road Monday in more elimination games. 


Dutch Fork 7, St. James 1
Jay Metts and Lance Fuhr both hit 2-run doubles and Clemson University commit struck out 3 in 4 innings to lead the Silver Foxes.
Price Alexander and Jay Kirkland added RBI singles in the Top 7th and Andrew Fulmer completed his 3 scoreless innings of relief. 
Dutch Fork will travel to Summerville Monday in a Class 5A Lower State elimination game. The winner travels to River Bluff Wednesday for the Lower State final.


Airport 8, South Aiken 2
Cam Beckham drove in 3 hits and Sam LaFrage added 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Eagles stayed alive with the elimination game victory over the Region 5-4A rival Thoroughbreds.
Dalton Mims struck out 5 in 5 2/3 innings for Airport, which had 4 relievers to finish the game. 
Airport will travel to Hilton Head Island, who lost 5-1 to Midland Valley, on Monday. The winner travels to the Mustangs Wednesday for the Class 4A Lower State final.


Gilbert 5, Aynor 3
The Indians stayed alive in the Class 3A Lower State playoffs following the elimination game victory over the Blue Jackets.
Gilbert responded to Aynor taking a 1-0 lead in the Top 1st with 4 unanswered runs over the next 2 innings. Dawson Burkett had 2 hits and winning pitcher Travis Elliott and Ashby Vining all had RBI for the Indians.
Gilbert (19-8) now travels Monday to Strom Thurmond, a 5-2 loser to Bishop England, for another elimination game. The winner goes to Charleston for the Class 3A Lower State final.


Oceanside Collegiate 9, Gray Collegiate 1
The War Eagles were on the losing end of the matchup of the sister schools. 
Gray Collegiate (21-9) will play host to East Clarendon Monday at Midlands Park. The winner travels to Oceanside Collegiate for the Class 2A Lower State final.
