A deciding game for the S.C. High School League Class 5A baseball championship will take place Friday.
Getting a complete game from Clemson University commit Ty Olenchuk, host team Dutch Fork defeated Blythewood 6-1 to even the Best-of-3 series.
The deciding game will take place 7 p.m. Friday at Segra Field, the home of the Columbia Fireflies.
Dutch Fork jumped out starter John Lanier early, pounding out 4 runs in the Bottom 1st. Noah Jackson had a 2-run single and Lance Fuhr followed with a 2-run double.
After the Bengals answered with a run in the Top 2nd, Dutch Fork made it 5-1 on a 2-out double by Hugh Ryan. The final run came in the 3rd on sacrifice fly by Jay Metts off reliever Kevin Steelman.
On the mound, Olenchuk struck out 7 and allowed just 5 hits for the Silver Foxes (23-11).
