S.C. HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE LACROSEE PLAYOFFS START TUESDAY

The road to W.C. Hawkins Stadium for the S.C. High School League Championships starts Tuesday for 7 Chronicle Country teams.

Undefeated Region 5, District 3 champion Chapin will begin its quest for a 3rd consecutive state title match appearance at Cecil Woolbright Field against Blythewood. The Lady Eagles will have homefield throughout the Lower State playoffs and, with a win, would face either host team Carolina Forest or Dutch Fork in the next round Thursday.

Second-seed Lexington will host St. James Tuesday and would either travel to top-seed Wando or play host to Spring Valley with a win on Thursday.

The boys’ playoffs start Tuesday with Region 5, District 3 champion and top seed River Bluff opening against Spring Valley in The Swamp. The Gators will have homefield advantage through the Lower State bracket.

The winner will face either St. James or last year’s Lower State champion Dutch Fork in the second round.

Lexington will also open at home Tuesday against Socastee with the winner facing either Wando or Chapin in the next round.

The Class 5A championships will take place April 26 at 4 p.m. (girls) and 6:30 p.m. (boys) on the campus of Irmo High School.
