S.C. HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE LACROSSE PLAYOFFS - Top seeds River Bluff boys, Chapin girls advance

The road to the S.C. High School League Class 5A championship through the Lower State goes through The Swamp.

River Bluff began its quest for its first-ever state title with a 13-6 win over Spring Valley.

George Yansens scored 4 of his team-high 5 goals in the first half, including 3 in the 2nd quarter to give the Gators a 8-3 lead. His lone goal in the 3rd quarter helped achieve a career milestone with 100 career goals.

Team-leading scorer Kevin Flannery also posted a hat trick with 3 goals and Austin Outman added a pair.

River Bluff (13-4) will play host to Dutch Fork on Thursday. The defending Class 5A Lower State champions defeated St. James 18-6. 

Lexington 15, Socastee 2 

The Wildcats advanced to the 2nd round where they will travel to Wando.

The Warriors defeated Chapin 18-4 on Tuesday.

Chapin 19, Blythewood 0

The undefeated Lady Eagles opened their quest for a 3rd consecutive state title appearance and first in Class 5A with a shutout victory.

Up next for Chapin (13-0) is Carolina Forest, a 11-7 win over Dutch Fork. The contest will take place at Cecil Woolbright Field on Thursday.

Lexington 17, St. James 8

The Lady Wildcats will travel to top seed Wando on Thursday.
