Lexington tennis headed to Class 5A Lower State final

The nationally 10th-ranked Dutch Fork boys’ soccer team played possibly its final home game of the 2019 season.

The Silver Foxes shut out James Island 3-0 behind goals by Jordan Johnson, Elliott Fish and Damon Williams.

With the win, Dutch Fork (16-1) will head to Socastee for the 3rd round. Based on the brackets, the Silver Foxes would remain on the road for the Lower State final if Wando defeats Lexington.

Lexington 1, Ashley Ridge 0

Graham Owiriwa scored off the assist from Jaxon Keene with less than 3 minutes left to lift the Wildcats to their 2nd straight road playoff victory.

Lexington (12-12-1) will travel to top-seed Wando on Saturday.

Gilbert 4, Wade Hampton 1

Angel Barazza scored 2 gaols and Bryan Jiminez had 2 assists to lead the Indians into the 3rd round on Thursday.

Bruce Kuhns and Kevin Alvarez also scored for Gilbert, which travels to Bishop England Saturday.

Wando 7, River Bliuff 2

The previous 4 playoff meetings between the Warriors and Gators were decided by 1 points.

Playing this time in Mount Pleasant, however, Wando dominated to advance to the 3rd round.

River Bluff finished with a 15-5 record.

Southside Christian 1, Batesburg-Leesville 0 (OT)

The Panthers saw their season come to an end in sudden death Thursday on the road.

The Wildcats improved to 17-1 and will play host to Wando Monday for the Class 5A Lower State final.

The Warriors defeated Dutch Fork to advance.
