Rainfall and lightning cut short the return of the Lexington County Pancakes for Sunday's Southern Summer Ball Series matchup at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The Macon Bacon led 1-0 on a Carson Crowe RBI single when the 1st of 2 play stoppages occurred in the 3rd inning. The teams resumed play and finished the top half of the 3rd inning. The bad weather then returned before the Blowfish were ready to come to bat, forcing the suspension of the contest.
With the Bacon set to return Thursday, the game will be completed prior to the originally scheduled contest.
Lexington County (16-10, 6-8) needs to win its remaining 5 games against the Savannah Bananas (21-11, 16-11) and Macon Bacon (18-20, 10-13) to have a shot at the Series Cup. A loss Monday at Grayson Stadium would clinch the trophy for the Bananas.
