The All-Star high school basketball season will feature the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year.
Swansea guard Danae McNeal received the honor Friday. The Clemson University signee joins a list of past winners which include current Batesburg-Leesville head coach and alumnus Jessica Barr and Dutch Fork and University of South Carolina national champion Alaina Coates.
McNeal will take part in 2 All-Star Basketball games. She will play in the 4th annual Columbia Senior All-Star game at Heathwood Hall at noon Saturday for the Blue team with Gray Collegiate’s Kayla Gordon, Airport’s Myra Jackson and Chapin’s Emma Fabry.
They will face the Gray team coached by Lexington head coach Molly Goodrich, Lady Wildcat Class 5A Player of the Year and University of South Carolina commit Olivia Thompson, teammate Brooke Faulks, Brookland-Cayce’s Lakyn Boyd and Irmo’s Madison Dopico.
In 2 weeks, McNeal and Thompson will team up the South Carolina team facing North Carolina at the Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball Game in Wilmington, N.C.
