Rick Henry knew his faith was being tested.
In May, the WIS-TV sports director was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He told the Lexington Mayor’s prayer lunch last week he put it all in God’s hands.
“He heard my prayers and answered my prayers.
"I am at peace knowing God has a plan for me.”
This year’s event at the Lexington County Blowfish ball park was a full house, according to host Bill Shanahan.
Close to 100 people enjoyed traditional ballgame food and fellowship.
Among them were Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall and other mayors, Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, Lexington Police Chief Terrence Greene, Congressman Joe Wilson and retired Mr. Knozit Joe Pinner who led singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
As featured speaker, Henry shared memories of covering the World Series, Clemson and Carolina football, Bomber and Blowfish baseball and other sports.
Now, he said, his mission is to encourage other men to take care of themselves by getting a prostate exam after age 40.
