Thursday night at White Knoll High School saw the softball team honor one of its own.
Longtime assistant coach Richard Lundy, who in his 40 years of softball duties previously worked at Brookland-Cayce, was recognized in a special pre-game ceremony.
Afterwards, the defending Class 5A sottball champions capped "Lundy Legacy Night" by claiming its 19th consecutive victory dating back to last season. The Lady Timberwolves defeated visiting Lugoff-Elgin 3-1.
Senior pitcher Andrea Lyon tallied 11 strikeouts and allowed just 2 hits in the win. The score was tied at 1-1 in the Bottom 5th when Hannah Goodwin belted a go-ahead 2-run homer.
Goodwin, the school's career leader in RBI, had 2 hits in the game. Ashlee Burkett also had 2 hits for White Knoll (14-0, 5-0), who play host to Marlboro Academy at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Lexington 6, Dutch Fork 1
Ashley Causey had a 2-run homer, Hannah Kumiyama also homered and pitcher Allie Light struck out 9 for the Lady Wildcats (8-3, 3-2).
Morgan Scott had 10 strikeouts and had the lone RBI for the Lady Silver Foxes (9-3, 4-3).
Dutch Fork faces archrival Irmo at home Monday, while Lexington plays host to Chapin on Tuesday.
