Since dropping the season-opener to Region 5-3A newcomer Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the Gilbert volleyball team have rebounded in dominating fashion.
On Thursday, the Lady Indians defeated Strom Thurmond in 3 sets (25-16, 25-10, 25-10) for their 4th consecutive victory.
The win keeps Gilbert (4-1, 3-1) in contention for a 3rd straight region title entering a 3-night, 3-game home stretch next week.
Head coach Jackie Shealy expects to use plenty of her bench during this important stretch as the team continues to work itself into midseason conditioning.
"We've got big region matches," she said. "We've got Swansea (Tuesday, followed by Pelion Wednesday) and then we've got O-W coming to us. So we've really got to take advantage of Monday and make the most of it."
River Bluff 3, Chapin 0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-18)
The Lady Gators (3-0, 3-0) remained perfect on the season after the 3-set win over the Lady Eagles in The Swamp.
They next travel to White Knoll on Tuesday.
Lexington 3, Dutch Fork 0
