The struggles at the "Fish Tank" continued Thursday for the host team.
The South Division-leading Savannah Bananas defeated the Lexington County Blowfish 10-8. It was the fourth consecutive Coastal Plain League home loss for the Blowfish (5-7), who did snap a 12-game CPL scoreless streak at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The RBI fielder's choice by Chandler Jenkins run in the first inning created the first of four ties in the contest. A 2-run homer in the second by Cole Tate to score his brother and fellow University of Georgia teammate Connor Tate put the Blowfish on top 3-1.
Savannah answered back with a 2-run single by Yorvis Torreaalba in the top of the third. The Blowfish answered in the bottom half of the inning with a RBI sacrifice fly by Sean Parsons of River Bluff to regain the lead, only to have Alex Rodriguez tie the game a third time in the fourth with a RBI fielder's choice.
Justin Dirden gave the Bananas the lead a second time in the fifth with a solo home run to centerfield. Lexington County's Chandler Redmond tied the game in the sixth with a 2-out double.
Savannah broke the game open in the eight off reliever Andrew Tilghman. The Bananas scored five earned runs against him in his Blowfish 2018 debut to take a 10-5 lead.
Lexington County scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Connor Tate had an RBI double and scored on Redmond's 2-run homer.
The Bananas (9-2) added an insurance run in the top of the ninth.
Zack Spivey was one of four Blowfish players with two hits each.
Lexington County (5-7) travels to Forest City Friday. The Blowfish will then return home for two games Saturday versus Florence and Sunday against the Macon Bacon.
