WEDNESDAY HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS - Clemson pitcher commits throw shutouts in victories

Clemson University commit Ricky Williams allowed just 3 hits and struck out 7 as River Bluff edged Lexington 1-0 Wednesday in The Swamp.
It was Game 1 of a 3-game series which could determine 2nd place in Region 5-5A. The Gators improved to 13-4 overall, 7-3 in the region, while the Wildcats dropped to 10-9 overall, 4-6 in the region.
Williams helped set up the game's lone run when he and William Chastain hit consecutive singles off the Wildcats Braison Bourne. After the baserunners advanced on a wild pitch, Preston Sansone groundout to 3rd base enabled pinch-runner Drew Beard to score.
Game 2 is set for Thursday in Lexington.

Dutch Fork 12, White Knoll 0
Noah Jackson drove in 5 runs and Clemson commitment Ty Olenchuk struck out 9 and allowed just 1 hit for the Silver Foxes. 
Crosby Jones and Bryan Helms each had 2 RBI for Dutch Fork (10-6, 5-5) as the Silver Foxes moved into 3rd place in Region 5-5A with the victory.
Game Two is set for Thursday in Irmo. 
 

Gray Collegiate 12, Columbia 0 (Game 1)
Gray Collegiate 4, Columbia 0 (Game 2)

The War Eagles swept the doubleheader to clinch the Region 3-2A title.

Gilbert 2, Batesburg-Leesville 0 

SOFTBALL
Lexington 13, Chapin 5

University of South Carolina signee Hannah Kumiyama went 3-4 and Jessica Senn, Peri Rouillard and Alyssa McCraw all had 2 hits for the Lady Wildcats. 
Kumiyama picked up the victory to improve to 5-0. 

Pelion 3, Brookland-Cayce 2
Jada Collins and Courtney Allen both went 2-3 to lead the Lady Panthers.
Lakyn Phillips went the distance,  giving up 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 14. The Lady Panthers improve to 10-9 on the season and travel to Gilbert Thursday.
