Wildcats hold Silver Foxes to lowest point total of season

The winning streaks continued Friday for Dutch Fork football.
The Silver Foxes defeated Lexington 51-7 for their 19th consecutive win both overall and in region play. It was also the 16th straight road victory for the undefeated, 2-time defending Class 5A champions.
Quarterback Tyler Olenchuk threw three touchdowns and accounted for 348 of Dutch Fork's 635 total yards. Wide receivers Jalin Hyatt had 9 receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns and Gage Zirke added eight receptions for 176 yards and a touchdown. 
Running back Ron Huff added two rushing scores to go with 74 yards and Jonathan Hall led the team with 88 rushing yards. 
The victory did not completely please Dutch Fork head coach Tom Knotts. Dutch Fork had three turnovers, one which resulted in Lexington's lone touchdown on a 1-yard run in the third quarter by Akeem Nicholas. 
The Silver Foxes were also penalized 11 times for 121 yards. 
This was also the lowest point total of the season for the Silver Foxes, who are averaging 61 points a contest and outscoring opponents 427-63. 
Lexington's lone score 
"We're battling our own demons right now," he said. "We're a good, quality high school team, probably as good as I've had. But we've got some "perception issues" that we've got to deal with and I'm just the man to get it out of them."
Knotts will have two weeks to work with his team. Following a bye next week, the Silver Foxes (7-0, 3-0) play host to White Knoll Oct. 26 seeking to clinch a third consecutive Region 5-5A title.
Lexington (4-3, 1-1) travels to Chapin on Oct. 19, seeking to improve the record of teams following a loss to Dutch Fork to 7-0. 


Spring Valley 31, White Knoll 9 
The Timberwolves (4-3, 0-2) dropped their third consecutive game as they fell at Harry Parone Stadium in a non-region contest.
Aveon Smith accounted for the team's lone offensive score on a 2-yard run. Loius Orellano added a 26-yard field goal.
White Knoll plays host to River Bluff on Oct. 19.


Northside Christian 50, Christian Academy 18
Noah Powell rushed for a score and Fulton Bryant threw a touchdown pass as the Crusaders picked up their first win of the season and first in 11-man football.
Northside Christian (1-7) travels to Colleton Prep on Oct. 19.


River Bluff 28, Chapin 17 
Braden Walker rushed for four touchdowns and over 300 yards as the Gators became the sixth consecutive team to post a victory after losing to Dutch Fork.
Connor Lehman had a 2-yard touchdown run, Alex Nelson had a 33-yard field goal and the Eagles got an interception return for a touchdown in the loss.
River Bluff (6-2, 1-1) travels to White Knoll on Oct. 19, while Chapin (4-3, 1-2) plays host to Lexington.


Gray Collegiate 43, Calhoun County 22
Running back K.Z. Adams had a career-best 276 yards and 6 touchdowns as the War Eagles rallied to take sole possession of first place in Region 3-2A.
Winners of three straight, Gray Collegiate (4-4, 2-0) can clinch the region title with a win Oct. 12 against Eau Claire at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia. 


Airport 37, Aiken 34
A game-winning field goal as time expired put the Eagles in a 4-way tie for first place in the Region 5-4A standings.
Airport (5-3, 2-1) plays host to South Aiken on Oct. 19.


Brookland-Cayce 31, Midland Valley 13
The Bearcats moved into a 4-way tie in Region 5-4A with Friday's win.
Brookland-Cayce (5-3, 2-1) travels to Aiken on Oct. 19. 


Swansea 22, Pelion 14
The Tigers snapped an 8-game losing streak dating back to last season and picked up their first win of the season.
It was also the seventh straight win over the Panthers (2-5, 1-1), who had their 2-game winning streak come to an end. 
Swansea (1-7, 1-2) returns to action Oct. 26 at Edisto, while Pelion travels to Strom Thurmond.


W.W. King 34, Tri-Academy 20
The Knights snapped an 8-game losing streak dating back to last season and became the last winless Lexington County team with Friday's victory.
W.W. King (1-7) returns to action Friday on the road against Newberry/Cambridge Academy. 

Irmo 42, Lugoff-Elgin 22

The Yellow Jackets improved to 5-3 overall, 2-1 in Region 4-4A with the victory entering the bye week.
