A week ago, the White Knoll wrestling team defeated Region 5-5A rival Lexington at the Lexington Duals.
On Wednesday, the Timberwolves returned to Lexington and defeated the Wildcats 43-31 in the region opener for both teams.
The Wildcats’ Dalton Snyder put his team in the lead with a 10-2 win over White Knoll’s Dawson Prevette. Lexington fell behind immediately as the Timberwolves won 4 straight pins by Eric Lopez, Nolon Shannon, Chris Kirk, and Quinton Dodd to build a lead they would not relinquish. Brady Leaphart, Peyton Mathis, and Walker Anderson won the final 3 matches for Lexington.
“We were able to get a lead and our lightweights took over,” Timberwolves head coach Kyle Kimrey said after the match. “Once we got that big lead it gave us the momentum, that was huge.”
The Timberwolves compete in the Blue Devil Duals before facing Chapin in region matches.
