Would you like to visit Congaree National Park?

Many of the park's trails have been reopened

Congaree National Park is almost fully reopened to the public with a few notable exceptions.

South Carolina’s only National Park has been closed or limited access since mid-March to help limit the spread of covid-19.

The park’s famous 2.4 mile boardwalk loop trail, along with the Harry Hampton Visitor Center, and all restrooms are closed until further notice.

Camping in either of the park’s two campgrounds or backcountry camping are not allowed at this time.

While the Boardwalk loop is closed, there are miles and miles of other great trails to explore. Most of the 1.7-mile Bluff Trail Loop is open for you to explore. The trail takes you through an upland Pine Forest near the Visitor Center.

Those looking for a longer hike into the backcountry will enjoy the 7-mile Oakridge Trail or the 10.4-mile River Trail.

Both give you a close up look at the park’s unique bottomland forests and the River Trail will take you to the banks of the Congaree River.

If you are looking to canoe in the park, the 15-mile Cedar Creek Canoe Trail from Bannister Bridge Canoe Access to Cedar Creek Canoe Access is reopened.

Congaree National Park is just 40-minutes from Lexington and is a great place to take the whole family to get out on a trail.

If you choose to visit please respect the closures and stay 6 feet apart from other visitors.
