Two people have been positively identified by the Lexington County coroner after a vehicle collision occurred near the 90-mile marker in the Chapin area of Lexington County.
47-year-old LaRhonda Davis Gibson and 23-month-old Ketron Menteze Gibson Jr. were both pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident after a pickup truck struck the back of Gibson’s vehicle, according to the press release.
Gibson had previously slowed down behind a tractor trailer due to traffic when the pickup struck the rear of her vehicle causing her to hit the tractor trailer in front of her.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured and remained on the scene, however, two passengers within the truck were transported to the hospital with injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol along with other organizations are continuing to investigate this accident.
