Deadline to secure Real ID for CAE is May 7

Posted

Beginning on May 7, individuals flying out of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) and planning to use their S.C. driver’s license must have a gold star to board domestic/commercial flights and get through the security checkpoint.

Those who do not have a Real ID or acceptable alternative will not be permitted through the security checkpoint. According to the press release, acceptable alternative forms include a valid and current US passport, US passport card, military ID, permanent resident card and DHS trusted traveler card.

You can also visit www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification for a complete list of acceptable alternative forms of identification.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) does not require minors (children under the age of 18) to provide identification when traveling within the US.

To receive a Real ID, visit a local S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles and bring proof of identity, social security number, two proofs of current S.C. address and proof of all legal name changes.

Visit www.scdmvonline.com or www.dhs.gov/real-id for more information.
