Two of Lake Murray’s most popular recreation sites have announced details for the 2023 season.
Dominion Energy will open its Lake Murray public parks fully on April 5, with its beach and recreation area located on the Lexington side of the Dreher Shoals Dam remaining open until Labor Day, Sept. 4.
The boat-launch area on the Irmo side of the dam will remain open to the public 24 hours a day, as it is throughout the year.
Parking at the recreation area will cost $5 to “partially offset the cost of maintenance, security, and improvements at the parks,” the company explains in a release.
Season passes are available for $50 per vehicle.
“Each year, Lake Murray is a beloved destination for visitors to enjoy their summer,” Billy Chastain, manager of lake management for Dominion Energy South Carolina, is quoted. “Safety is our main priority. While we want visitors to enjoy all the lake has to offer, we urge everyone to be careful while swimming and to follow boating safety rules.”
Here are the pertinent details for each of the two amenities:
Lexington-side Beach and Recreation Area
Irmo-side Boat-Launch Area
