A 29-year-old Batesburg man has been charged with attempted murder after one person sustained severe injuries and another's life was threatened.
Jerry William Hall, Jr. has multiple charges against him, including attempted murder, kidnapping, third-degree assault and battery, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of certain crimes and possession of meth, according to arrest warrants.
“Deputies were dispatched to a house on Bayonet Road Thursday night after a neighbor called 911,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a release. “They found the victim in the woods severely beaten. ... Investigators determined Hall punched the victim, kicked them with his steel-toed boots and restricted their airway to the point of unconsciousness."
Witnesses told investigators that Hall assaulted the person and locked them in the house, preventing their escape, over the span of nine hours.
According to the release, witnesses entered the house and Hall is said to have threatened to kill them.
“By the time deputies arrived on scene, Hall had left the house,” Koon said in the release. “Deputies received information Friday that Hall was in the 100 block of Buggy Road where he was detained.”
Hall was arrested and transported to the Lexington County Detention Center where he is being held after a magistrate judge denied his bond.
