A Lexington County resident has been charged with lottery fraud.

47-year-old Mitchell Lonnell Gleaton was arrested on July 16 for attempting to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery by attempting to cash out two stolen scratch-off tickets at the S Mart on Elmwood Avenue.

Gleaton had originally stolen the tickets from the Simba Express in Cayce. He was observed stealing and then cashing the tickets on video from both locations, according to the press release.

He was charged with one count of intent to defraud counterfeit game tickets.

Gleaton was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 5th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
