The state Department of Revenue’s July 21, 2022 report listing South Carolina’s top delinquent taxpayers shows Lexington County individuals account for 5.49% of the total due from the state’s top 250 delinquent taxpayers. County businesses listed owe 5.05% of the total due from South Carolina’s top 250 delinquent tax list businesses.
Lexington has eight individuals listed owing a combined total of $2,578,182 to the state. The total owed by the entire statewide list of 250 individuals was $46,956,054.
Lexington County has 13 businesses on the tax delinquency list, and they owe a combined total of $2,890,510. The combined statewide list totaled $57,223,297.

This year represents the two year anniversary of the SCDOR’s Top Delinquent Taxpayers Initiative, which publicly lists the state’s top 250 individual and business tax debtors, a department press release notes.
The department reports that $8.5 million was collected statewide in 2021 after top delinquent tax debts were reported online.
