A Lexington County man has been arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder and a single count of second-degree arson after a home was set on fire with two children and a woman inside in June.
Tracy Chad Russell Jr., 31, was arrested in Orangeburg County on Wednesday, July 10, and is being held in Lexington County Detention Center with an upcoming bond hearing.
“The Lexington County Fire Service responded to a structure fire in the 100 block of Addie Lucas Road during the afternoon of June 28,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in a news release. “They let us know the fire looked suspicious so, with the assistance of the LCFS Fire Marshals Division, we started an investigation.”
Officers responded just after 3 p.m. on June 28.
Investigators said Russell set fire to the home intentionally while three people he knew were inside the home. He used torch fuel canisters, according to the release.
Russell also resided in the home, according to arrest warrants.
“We talked with witnesses, and those involved, to confirm a timeline that is supported by when smoke was seen and the evidence recovered from the scene,” Koon said. “Russell left the home after the fire and didn’t return to the property.”
There were no injuries reported in either the incident report or arrest warrants.
