FRIDAY, APRIL 11

Midlands Plant & Flower Sale
Celebrate spring with the Midlands Plant & Flower Sale at the SC State Farmer’s Market (3483 Charleston Hwy.). You can find dozens of vendors selling spring plants for your green thumb, and experts to advise you on how to get your garden looking great. This event runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is free. Visit agriculture.sc.gov for more information.

Saluda Shoals Spring Jazz Series (concert)
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd.) kicks off their spring jazz concert series. This week, The Reggie Sullivan Band takes you through an evening of smooth jazz and soul, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15, and food trucks will be on-site, along with beer and wine sales. Sister Hazel (concert)
Popular rock band Sister Hazel, best known for their 1990s hit “All For You,” perform at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.). The band still has a knack for melodic hooks but they can credit a die-hard fanbase known as the “Hazel Nuts” for their longevity on the road. In fact, they’ve helped the band reach their 30th anniversary. Showtime is 6 p.m. and tickets are $32. Food, beer and wine will be on sale. Visit icehouseamphitheater.com for more information. 

SATURDAY, APRIL 12

Riverstone (concert)
Krafty Draft Brew Pub (269 Charter Oak Rd.) welcomes Riverstone to its concert stage. The duo plays an infectious acoustic blend of pop, folk and Americana from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This event is free to attend. Visit kraftydraft.com for more information.

SCNPS Spring Native Plant Sale
Canoeing For Kids (114 Riverchase Ct.) invites you to the SCNPS Spring Native Plant Sale, presented by the South Carolina Native Plant Society. Browse through a wide selection of native perennials, grasses, vines and shrubs, all available at budget-friendly prices. Conservation representatives from the Xerces Society, Gills Creek Watershed Association, Midlands Nature and Bird Alliance and Carolina Wildlife Rescue will be on-site with tips on how to preserve our native plants. Lower Saluda Craft Beerfest
Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd.) hosts a beer lover’s dream festival: The Lower Saluda Craft Beerfest. Sample a wide variety of state and regional craft beers, and enjoy live tunes from the band Hijacked. Grab some tasty bites from La Dolce Vita Pizza or Cox Family BBQ and take home a commemorative tasting glass to remember the day. The Beerfest runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is $30. An Evening with Roberta Gambarini (concert)
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College Blvd.) and the SC Jazz Masterworks Ensemble welcome acclaimed Italian jazz singer, and multi Grammy nominated vocalist Roberta Gambarini. Gambarini has recorded and toured with some of the greatest giants of jazz, including Jimmy Heath, Benny Carter, James Moody, Tootie Heath, Roy Hargrove, Dave Brubeck, Hank Jones, Paquito D’Rivera, the Dizzy Gillespie Allstars Big Band, Chucho Valdes and many more. Yoga & Mimosas

Sole Purpose (concert)
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts another edition of the Lexington Live! Concert series, presented by the Lexington Medical Center. This week’s band is Sole Purpose, who play an eclectic blend of acoustic/electric funk, soul, R&B, country and  rock starting at 6:30 p.m. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase and food vendors are on site. Flashlight Egg Hunt
The Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission and Melvin Park (1098 Old Lexington Hwy.) invite you to an Easter egg hunt by night. The Flashlight Egg Hunt is an exciting twist on the classic concept, where you and your trusty flashlight search high and low for hidden eggs scattered throughout the park. Across the county line

The Koger Center for the Arts (1051 Greene St.) presents an evening of adult educational comedy on Friday, April 11, with Bored Teachers: The Struggle Is Real. Bored Teachers is a group of standups with experience in our education system, and they bring a much-needed sense of humor to teachers around the world to ease their daily struggles in the classroom. They’ve brought laughter to over 150,000 teachers throughout the school year, and even non-teachers think they’re hilarious. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and there is some PG-13 language. The Millenium Tour brings a maximum dose of classic R&B and hip-hop to Colonial Life Arena (801 Lincoln St.) on Friday, April 11. This unbelievable lineup features Trey Songz, Omarion, Bow Wow, Plies, Boosie, Ying Yang Twins, RSVP (Ray J, Sammie, Bobby V, Pleasure P), Nivea and special guest Rick Ross, all on one stage in one night. Congaree National Park (100 National Park Rd.) invites you to enjoy their weekly Nature Discovery Walk on Saturday, April 12. Join a volunteer park naturalist for a guided hike on the park’s boardwalk trail to learn about the amazing flora and fauna that calls Congaree National Park home. This guided nature walk lasts approximately two hours and begins at 9:30 a.m. It is free to attend, but registration is required at nps.gov/cong/index.htm.

The Carolina Western Pub (920 Lady St.) is the perfect place for a raucous honky-tonk set from Smokey Jones & The 3 Dollar Pistols on Saturday, April 12. The band loves to pay honest tribute to classic country and honky tonk music, but there’s a wink of irony and more than a little comedy in the mix, as well. Showtime is 8 p.m. and admission is free. Singer/songwriter David Ramirez performs at New Brookland Tavern (632 Harden St.) on Wednesday, April 16. Ramirez is in town to spotlight his just-released new album, “All The Not So Gentle Reminders,” which got a rave review from No Depression magazine, saying that the album “finds Ramirez back to his dynamic self. Synths and fuzzy guitars back emotionally astute lyrics. Choruses soar.” Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets are $20. Visit newbrooklandtavern.com for more information.
