The Embers (concert)

Jazz on the River

Friday — Sept. 9

Fallapalooza (concert)

The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts a multi-band Fallapalooza concert. There will be performances by Glide: The Stone Temple Pilots Tribute, Siamese Dream: The Smashing Pumpkins Tribute Band and Nirvani: A Nirvana Tribute Experience. Les Flat Out Strangers (concert)

Head over to Saluda Shoals Park (5605 Bush River Rd. in Columbia) and enjoy an evening of jazz music as part of the park’s Jazz Series concert. Les Flat Out Strangers will perform, there will be food from Cox Family BBQ and beer and wine will be available for purchase. The Tre King Band (concert)

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts The Tre King Band performing “A Night Of Soulful Grooves. Expect to hear some house music and reggae along with classics by Mtume, Patrice Rushen, Mary J. Blige, The Staples Singers, Chaka Khan, The Isley Brothers, Prince, The Gap Band and more. The Jake Bartley Band (concert)

John Lakin (concert)

Gospel performers John Lakin and Friends play  the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo). The performance will be recorded for a live release. Showtime is 6 p.m., and tickets cost between $15 and $20. Visit harbisontheatre.org for more information. 

Meeting Street Artisan Market

Head over to the Interactive Art Park (425 Meeting St. in West Columbia) for the Meeting Street Artisan Market. The market includes vendors selling original art, crafts, foods, and produce. Support local vendors, interact with the unique sculptures throughout the park, and then head to State and Meeting Streets, and Court Avenue to continue shopping and dining. Sandbox Percussion Ensemble (concert)

Join the Koger Center for the Arts (1051 Greene St. in Columbia) and Sandbox Percussion Ensemble for a special performance Sept. 9. The ensemble will perform “Seven Pillars,” a composition by USC graduate Andy Akiho that The New York Times called “a lush, brooding celebration of noise.” Created in collaboration with Sandbox Percussion, the piece was a finalist for two Grammy Awards and the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Music.
