A man from the Upstate is accused of traveling to Lexington to meet with a teenage girl.
According to a release from the Lexington Police, the person he thought was an underage girl, was a detective with the department who is also part of the S.C. Attorney General Crimes Against Children Task Force.
After making contact with the detective’s fake social media profile Jan. 11, Bryan Wesley Rogers, 58 of Wellsford, is accused of driving to town Jan. 12 in hopes of meeting and having sex with the girl. Upon arriving at the meeting location, he was arrested by Lexington detectives.
“When the undercover detective told Bryan Rogers about her age, he responded by saying, ‘I like young peeps,’” the release states. “Bryan Rogers continued saying that he wanted to take her to a hotel and have sex. Bryan Rogers engaged in continued sexual conversation with the undercover detective, sent nude photographs of himself and pornography.”
According to the release, detectives believe that there may be underage victims who have been involved with Rogers. They ask anyone with information to contact Detective Earl Alewine at (803) 358-7262 or ealewine@lexsc.com.
Rogers is charged with attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor (age 11-14), attempted criminal solicitation of a minor, and two counts each of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor and attempted unlawful dissemination of obscene material to a minor.
According to the release, Rogers was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center before being granted bond on all charges.
