West Columbia man killed in Charleston Highway moped accident on Aug. 28

Brandon Edward Clance, 34, of West Columbia, has been identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as the individual who died in a vehicle versus moped crash.

The accident occurred in the 3400 block of Charleston Highway in the West Columbia area shortly after 3 a.m. on Aug. 28.

According to the press release, Clance was traveling westbound on Charleston Highway when he was struck from behind by a vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene after succumbing to his injuries. 

The other driver was not injured and stayed on the scene. 

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate the incident.
