Wingard Park will open to the public Friday, Sept. 5, offering a place to relax and connect with nature.
Located at the intersection of Old Chapin and Old Cherokee roads, the park spans more than 14 acres and includes picnic tables, a covered shelter, four family restrooms and an artificial turf playground for all to enjoy.
A press release says the land was donated by Willie Wingard, whose vision for the land was to be preserved and enjoyed by the community.
“We are excited to open this beautiful new space free of charge to Lexington County residents,” said Randy Gibson, LCRAC executive director, in the release. “Wingard Park represents not only a place to play and relax, but also a lasting tribute to Ms. Wingard’s generosity and commitment to our community.”
