The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Midlands chapter named Mary Lane Sloan Woman of the Year.

Mary Lane and The ART of Finding a Cure team raised $74,7111 over a 10-week fundraising campaign to help find a cure for blood cancers.

The campaign touched home for Mary Lane as her husband and high school sweetheart, David Sloan, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when he was 16. David has been in remission for more than 20 years. He and Mary Lane are the proud parents of daughters Emmaline, 9, and Anna, 2.

“Being a part of this campaign has touched me in so many ways. From getting to know the Boy and Girl of the Year and their families to being humbled by the generous support of family and friends, this has been an experience of a lifetime,” said Mary Lane Sloan, Partner of The ART of Real Estate.

LLS is the world’s leading non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers and ensuring that patients have access to lifesaving treatments. Every nine minutes someone in the U.S. dies of a blood cancer. Through programs like Man & Woman of the Year, LLS has invested more than $1.2 billion in research to advance breakthrough therapies.

The funds raised through LLS’s Man & Woman of the Year are used for:

Research to advance targeted therapies and immunotherapies that are saving thousands of lives;
