3 teenagers charged after shooting, armed robbery in Lexington County

Three teenagers have been arrested by Lexington County deputies after an armed robbery and shooting.

The incident happened in the Swansea area of Lexington County on March 6, according to a release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

All of the teenagers, each male, have been charged with three counts of first-degree assault and battery and one count of pointing and presenting a firearm, investigators say.

And one of them is also being charged with one count of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime

“After speaking with witnesses and victims, investigators determined one of the teens stole a gun out of a car at a gas station on Edmund Highway,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon in the release. “Later that night the teens were at a home off Redmond Mill Road and shot in the direction of three other people following an argument.”

All of the suspects were transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice following the incident.

There may be future charges as the investigation continues.

“Following the shooting, the three teens ran away and were caught by deputies Thursday night,” Koon in the release.

The names of those charged will not be released because each of them are under 18 years old.
