A Fairfax man was arrested on drug charges after leading police, including Swanea officers, on a chase.

Rolando Valentino Green, 42 of Fairfax, was arrested Jan. 7 after the Swansea Police Department pulled him over for an equipment violation in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 321, according to a Facebook post from the department.

During the encounter the driver was asked out of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana emitting from within,” the department posted. “The driver refused leading officers on a vehicle pursuit into Orangeburg County before being taken into custody just outside the Town of Norway.”

Green is charged with trafficking cocaine, failure to stop for blue lights, resisting arrest and simple possession of marijuana, the post states.

The post states that a search of the vehicle discovered narcotics and a large sum of money totalling $3,608.
