...their city is the most dangerous in the state.
Violent crimes per 1,000 Spartanburg residents has reached 12.0.

2nd Place goes to Myrtle Beach.
Violent Crimes per 1,000 residents: 11.9
Your chance of becoming a victim: 1 in 83
3rd Place: Florence.
Violent Crimes per 1,000 residents: 11.6
Your chance of becoming a victim: 1 in 86
4th Place: Sumter.
Violent Crimes per 1,000 residents: 10.5
Your chance of becoming a victim: 1 in 94
5th Place: North Charleston.
Violent Crimes per 1,000 residents: 9.6
Your chance of becoming a victim: 1 in 103
These are the findings of the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime. 
The group blames a rise in organized crime, terrorism, street crime, online crime, illegal markets and smuggling, human and wildlife trafficking, slavery, robberies and burglaries in part on the covid-19 pandemic.
The pandemic has caused a decrease in some organized-criminal activities while providing new opportunities in others.
According to Neighborhood Scout's  research, our state is safer than others. 
The study ranked all US cities with populations greater than 25,000 based on the number of crimes per 1,000 people. 
That may explain why no town or city in Lexington County made the list.
The county's largest by population is Lexington with 23,225 residents based the latest US Census estimates
The most dangerous city in the US is Detroit with a violent crime rate of 19.5 per 1,000 residents.
Those living in Detroit have a 1 in 51 chance of being a violent crime victim.
