Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman killed in a crash on Charleston Highway in Cayce on Dec. 18.

Joyce P. Backman, 91, of Cayce, was pronounced dead at an area hospital shortly after the 6:03 p.m. accident.

According to a press release, Backman was initially involved in a two-vehicle collision, but as drivers exited their vehicles, she was struck by a third vehicle. The other pedestrian involved in the incident was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene.

The City of Cayce Police Department and Lexington County Coroner’s office are continuing to investigate.
