Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the person who died after a motorcycle accident on Highway 21 near Interstate 26 at approximately 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 9.
49-year-old Gaston resident Philip James Bugger was traveling north on Highway 21 when his motorcycle veered off of the right side of the road and then struck multiple construction barrels as well as a road sign.
Bugger, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. Another passenger who was also not wearing a helmet was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the press release read.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
