Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the person who died in a single-vehicle accident as George Hall Gomez Jr., 17, of Leesville. 

The accident occurred at 5:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Jim Spence Road in the Lexington area. 

According to Fisher, George was traveling south on Jim Spence Road when his vehicle left the right side of the road and struck a tree. 

He was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. 

The Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the accident.
