17 Lexington County baseball, softball players make 2025 All-State teams

Posted

Baseball and softball coaches across South Carolina made their picks for All-State and Players of the Year. Many Lexington County players earned a nod to their classification’s All-State team, with some even receiving an additional honor.

While the announcement is mostly meant for the players, each classification’s top coach was also awarded. Lexington County had three of the six baseball Coaches of the Year, including two who won a state title this season.

Lexington led all teams in the County with five selections to the baseball and softball teams.

For the baseball team, Christian Spivey, Brandon Cromer and Reidar Carlson earned the honor. Spivey was named 5A Region 4 Player of the Year, giving him an automatic spot on the team.

Cromer and Carlson were awarded a spot after helping the Wildcats advance all the way to the state title series for a second year in a row. While the end result didn’t go the way the team wanted, it was another excellent year for the team.

The Wildcats did so well this season that head coach Brian Hucks was named 5A Division I Coach of the Year. Lexington finished the year 22-11-1 and lost the state title series after barely dropping two games in extra innings.

Lexington’s softball team didn’t have the same postseason success, losing in the semifinal series. But the team did go on an impressive run and won the region after being dethroned last season.

For this, two of Lexington’s top stars were rewarded with an All-State nod. Sam Craig was named Region Player of the Year, and Livi Warren earned her third career All-State selection after leading the Wildcats.

Elsewhere in Lexington County, players and coaches from championship-winning teams were honored.

Gray Collegiate’s Aspen Boulware earned All-State after helping the War Eagles win their second straight state championship. Boulware was also awarded the state’s top softball honor after being named the 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year.

Airport’s state championship-winning baseball team had two players selected to the All-State team. Region Player of the Year, Hunter Epps, and Brice Gillette earned a spot. Both players were critical pieces in the Eagles’ title run.

Head coach Casey Bradwell was named 4A Coach of the Year to sweeten the deal.

Batesburg-Leesville also won a baseball state championship this past season AND HAD THEIR head coach honored as a result. Rob Bouknight was named 2A Coach of the Year after getting the Panthers to the top for the first time in over 75 years.

Tanner Watkins was awarded All-State as one of the most consistent contributors this season.
