The latest batch of wrestling rankings has dropped, and 11 teams are featured in the top 20 of their classifications. 

It was also the first ranking of athletes this season, and 51 local wrestlers earned a spot amongst their weight classes' best. 

River Bluff leads the way as the highest-ranked team in the county. The Gators are fourth in the 5A Division I poll and fifth in the girls poll. 10 athletes from the school earned a spot in the individual rankings. 

Three former state qualifiers are in that group, including 2023 132-pound runner-up Cael Edwards. He moved to 144 in 2024 and qualified for the state tournament. This season, he is the third-ranked 5A wrestler in the 165-pound division. 

Joining Edwards in the rankings are former state qualifier Peter Vaporis, Riley Brown and Luke Kistler. Mayln Gentry, Gracie Beaulieu, Sophia Voudouris, Amy Robinson, Kyrra Shipman-Lutz and Savanah Parrett are featured in the girls rankings. 

Airport was the only other team in the county ranked in both the boys and girls polls. The Eagles are 20th in the 4A rankings and 17th in the girls. 

The team has five athletes ranked in the individual poll, including No. 1 ranked and defending 235-pound state champion Alyssa Ceacal. 

Chapin’s Preston White is the only other top-ranked wrestler from Lexington County. White is a two-time state champion, winning at 106 in 2023 and 113 last year. This season, White is competing in the 126-pound division. 

The Eagles are fifth in the 5A Division II poll and have five athletes in the individual rankings, including White. 

Swansea and White Knoll are tied for the second-most individual athletes ranked, with seven each. The Tigers have seven wrestlers ranked in the 3A poll, including Chase Alley who is second in the 150-pound division. Alley was a 2024 state qualifier in the 144-pound class last season. 

White Knoll has five boys ranked in the 5A poll and two athletes in the girls rankings. Three of the athletes in the 5A poll are returning state qualifiers.
