Lexington County School District Four is fully staffed for the 2025-26 school year, Chief Human Resource Officer Jamal Sanders said at a recent board meeting.
“We’re very proud of that, and that is something that we want the world to know as we move forward that we have a dedicated teacher in every one of our classrooms as of day one,” Sanders said.
The district currently has 270 teachers. Some placements include 38 teachers at the Early Childhood Center, 41 at Francis Mack Intermediate and 36 at Sandhills Elementary School.
The average teacher has 13 years of experience at a master’s degree level, with an average salary of $64,185.11.
Around 98 of the teachers have 15 years or more of experience, 42 have 10 or more years of experience and 197 have five or more years of experience.
Teachers make up approximately 51% of the district's staff, followed by instructional assistants accounting for 14%.
Maintenance and custodial staff make up 12% and administrators make up 3%.
All bus driver positions are also fully staffed. Additionally, the district has 88 active substitutes.
Among the substitutes, 58% have a diploma or General Educational Development (GED), 33% hold an associate or a bachelor's degree and 9% are certified teachers.
Sanders noted that certified substitutes will be especially beneficial when covering for teachers on maternity leave or in emergencies.
Through a partnership with Lander University, the district will also host a teacher-intern who will work in a third-grade classroom at Sandhills Elementary School. Sanders said administrators are working with other higher education partners to bring in additional interns.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lexington Four Administrative Office, located at 607 E 5th St., in Swansea.
