The Annual Lexington County Museum Spring Open House was held on Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 5 p.m.
The weather was beautiful, and the Spring Open House was well attended.
This free event featured demonstrations of historic crafts, including blacksmithing, butter churning, basket weaving and more. Many of the historic buildings on the museum’s campus were open for tours. Children enjoyed playing on the grounds, and many participated in the demonstrations on how to wash clothes and churn butter.
Lexington County Museum Director J.R. Fennell gave out maps of the museum’s complex to everyone who came. Refreshments were served in the Hazelius House Tour Office.
The museum serves as an invaluable educational tool by promoting the county's history. For further information on the Lexington County Museum, call 803-359-8369.
