For close to four decades, the S.C. Poultry Festival has been a tradition in Batesburg-Leesville. Held the second weekend of May, the festival began in 1987 as a small hometown event that has grown into a three-day festival.
The annual Poultry Festival welcomes an estimated 100,000 attendees each year. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
This year, the rain did not keep people from attending the festival parade, which boasted bands, crafts, a 5K run, golf tournament, car show, carnival rides and delicious food from a variety of vendors.
Town of Bates-Leesville leaders say this would not be possible without the dedication of their volunteers, sponsors and festival committee, who work hard to make this such a successful event.
