Blowfish gear up for final week of 2026 season

Posted

The end of the 2026 Blowfish baseball season is here as the team prepares for its final week of games.

Lexington County will look to close the season strong with six games this week, including three at home. Fans can catch the Blowfish in action at the Lexington Ballpark on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Thursday’s game will be part of the team’s typical Thirsty Thursday promotional nights. Friday is tropical paradise night as the Blowfish become the Glowfish for a meeting against Catawba Valley. Saturday’s game will be fan appreciation night as the Blowfish conclude their 2026 season with a postgame fireworks show.

Each game will start at 7:05 p.m.

Lexington County is hoping this final week’s results go better than last week’s. The Blowfish played in six games last week, but went (1-5). Lexington County’s record was (18-24) overall coming into this week.

The one win came in a 16-2 blowout against Zebulon. Beau Rurey led the team with four RBIs. Miles Barbrey had three, and Walker Buchanan and Drew Buchanan each had two.

Hayden Thomas pitched the majority of the game, going for five innings with seven strikeouts and just two hits allowed. Jake Morris came on in relief and pitched the final two innings.

The Blowfish got on the board early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. The lead grew again in the second after the Blowfish scored six runs. One run scored in the top half of the second by Zebulon made the score 9-1 heading into the third.

Lexington County scored another run in the third before going scoreless in the fourth. The team got the majority of its final runs in the fifth inning, scoring five.

The team scored once more in the sixth, and Zebulon got on the board for one run in the seventh before the game was called.
