Yet another manufacturing company may soon call Lexington County home—this time a Canadian company promising a $45 million investment and 46 new employment opportunities.
A unanimous vote on second reading from Lexington County Council at the April 8 meeting is a major step toward making what was formerly known as Project Terrace possible.
This economic development initiative—no longer referred to as Project Terrace—would bring Techo-Bloc Corporation to a private parcel on Dixiana Road near Saxe Gotha Industrial Park.
Saxe Gotha Industrial Park is the county-owned park located off Interstate 77 near the Interstate 26 interchange. It’s already home to Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Nephron Nitrile, Dominion Energy, Amazon facilities, Chick-fil-A Supply, and the future site of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, according to the county.
Recent reporting from the Chronicle details the following manufacturing companies also setting up shop at the industrial park:
ALLTAPE Adhesive Manufacturing is promising 130 jobs and a $70 million investment.
Cardiff Products USA LLC is promising 94 jobs and a minimum investment of $99.6 million in Lexington County over the next five years.
In addition to the second reading for Techo-Bloc Corporation at the April 8 meeting, Council also held the required public hearing on the economic development project; no one from the public spoke for or against it.
“This is their first Southeastern facility,” a spokesman for the company said at the meeting. “They do already have four or five other facilities in the United States, but this investment—I think it's just the tip of the iceberg with them. They have big plans, and I know they're super excited to get to know you all better.”
Again, this company would not be part of Saxe Gotha Industrial Park but would be located very close by.
According to the company’s website, Techo-Bloc aims to “create products that never leave any homeowner, contractor or designer feeling ‘stuck’ with their options. … [Its] success has allowed [its] distribution network to grow to over 700 stores across the USA & Canada [and its] team has grown from 5 to over 600.”
Third and final reading for this project will likely take place at the next Lexington County Council meeting, set for April 22 at 4:30 p.m.
